The final of the seven interviews of the Delmer Goode series begins with the explanation of his retirement. In Goode’s words, he retired in stages, starting with retiring from full time to part time work. Gradually he retired from the administration but continued to teach until his official retirement in 1978. He reflects on the changes he has seen in students, believing that effort and achievement had overall risen since his time as an educator.
Later, the subject returns to retirement and Goode discusses a project involving the history of fraternities. He discusses his own personal involvement of fraternal groups, such as the Owls. When asked what his immediate goals were at the time of this interview, Goode states that he would like to finish his fraternity history project as well an autobiography he was penning. Goode ends the interview by advocating a positive outlook on life to keep one in gear, rather than focusing on the negative.
