- Letter from Dr. Norman Molomut to Dr. George W. Beadle, President, American Association for the Advancement of Science, RE: Shocked by the announcement for the 1955 AAAS meeting (to be held in Atlanta) which stated that Negro colleagues would be required to have separate accommodations. Understands that the AAAS may not wish to engage in a campaign of defiance against local prejudicial regulations. However, it would be an intelligent and legal protest to hold the meetings in a city where discrimination is not required. Considers holding the meetings in Atlanta to be an act to retard science, not to advance it. Wonders how many other members feel the same. Requests that this letter be printed in Science. [Letter from Molomut to LP August 17, 1955, Letter from LP to Molomut August 24, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (M: Correspondence, 1950-1955), #256.6]
- Letter from Dr. Norman Molomut to LP RE: Disturbed by the reservation form for the December meeting of the AAAS; believes that holding the meetings in a city which insists on discriminatory racial practices is shameful. Encloses a copy of his letter to the AAAS President. Wonders if LP might consider taking action in this matter. [Letter from Molomut to Beadle August 17, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (M: Correspondence, 1950-1955), #256.6]

Kirkwood, Chemistry Dept., Yale University, to LP RE: Accepts the invitation to speak on intermolecular forces at the symposium on Molecular Structure and Biological Specificity.
