  • Letter from Gustav Albrecht to LP, RE: After LP left yesterday, Mr. Gamble told Albrecht to call off all work at the building site until he had the permits and approvals, reversing everything Gamble had told Albrecht before. The plans Gamble gave Albrecht and asked him to get bids on are inadequate in detail to be bid on, and the more detailed plans, which have been promised for three weeks, are still not ready. Albrecht also understands that the necessary building permits will not be granted for another two to four weeks. Until Gamble comes through, there is nothing for Albrecht to do in Santa Barbara, so he asks LP's permission to return to Pasadena, where he has some unfinished business. Albrecht will keep in touch with Gamble. Albrecht tried to phone LP today, but apparently LP's phone isn't installed yet. A note in the margin indicates that LP called Albrecht on July 24.
