    Dr. Sigismund Peller

    164 East 81st Street

    New York 28, N.Y.

    Dear Dr. Peller:

I thank you for your letter of 17 April and for the reprint of your 1946 paper.

I have been wondering about the questtions that you discuss in your paper, and I shall study your paper with care. I may say that it seems to me that different genes may affect intelligence in different ways, and that the job of formulating genetic theory will necessarily be a much more complicated one than the treatment given in your paper.

    Sincerely yours,

    Linus Pauling:W
