  • Letter from William H. Freeman to LP, RE: Informs LP that he will receive a copy of CHEMISTRY OF THE COVALENT BOND and that LP should examine it as a possible text for his course. Explains that this is not the type of book that is usually used in the beginning course and that it is an attempt to give vigor to teaching chemistry. Explains what the course at Brown, which this book evolved from, covers and says that since it is so different from high school chemistry courses, the students responded with a newly awakened interest. Explains that even though the book is designed for Brown's freshman inorganic course, it can be used for many introductory organic courses. Handwritten note in the left margin says, "ahem! Bill."
