Urban League of Portland Records, 1944-2013

Accession 2013:095, received 2013-12-18. 6 cubic feet; 3 archives boxes

This addition to the Urban League of Portland (ULP) Records is made up of cds, constitutions, correspondence, DVDs, financial statements, flyers, meeting minutes, newsletters, newspaper clippings, photographs, a plaque, posters, press releases, reports, scrapbooks, sound recordings, and VHS videotapes.

The administration of ULP is documented through board of directors meeting minutes as well as records reflecting committee activity, financial management, and fundraising campaigns. About half of this transfer is made up of newspaper clippings and subject files assembled by ULP that relate to a variety of topics, including: minorities in business, the Economic Opportunity Act, Portland demographics, the civil rights movement, changes at ULP, education, and the job development training program. The scrapbooks and photographs mostly depict ULP events and outreach to groups such as the National Association of Colored Women and Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. ULP youth and senior programs are also represented in the images along with various projects such as the construction of the Urban Plaza. Electronic media, sound and video recordings primarily reflect ULP conferences and annual dinners, but also include radio spots.

Dona Dinsdale Papers, 1943-2013

Accession 2013:096, received 2013-12-18. 0.10 cubic foot; 1 document box

This addition to the Dona Dinsdale Papers is made up of biographical narratives, a book, employment records, identification cards, membership cards, letters, passports, and photographs. Other than photographs of alumna Dinsdale with her sorority sisters on Sadie Hawkins Day, these materials primarily document Dinsdale's careers after graduation with the U.S. government overseas in Paris, France. Other jobs reflected among these materials include a summer stint at the Albina Shipyards (where her mother also worked) during World War II. In the recently written biographical narratives, Dinsdale describes her childhood life until entering Oregon State College and then details her post-college employment. Numbering 9 prints and 1 slide, the images include a portrait shot of Dinsdale in her Paris office as a part of the U.S. Delegation to NATO. The book is a copy of "By Sea and By Stealth" inscribed by the author Burke Wilkinson to Dinsdale with a note of thanks for her help with the NATO Information Conference.

Marie Norris Collection, 1974-2004

This accession consists of materials documenting Native American activist, storyteller, and historian Marie Norris and is made up of a letter, newspaper clippings, publications, a sound recording, and two copies of the manuscript "Along Klamath Waters." Prepared for publication as a book, the manuscript is an autobiographical narrative written by Norris. Describing her life as a member of the Klamath tribe in Southern Oregon, Norris interweaves stories reflecting Klamath culture and history throughout the narrative. One of the major subjects in the manuscript is the government's termination of the Klamath tribe in the 1950s and its impact upon the culture, economy, and lands of the Klamaths. One of the manuscript drafts is an abridged version edited for submission to a publisher while the other is unabridged. The letter is from Norris to Roger Weaver. Published materials include a journal article by Weaver about Norris's interpretation of Klamath chants and a biographical sketch about Norris in the publication "Notable Women in the History of Oregon." The sound recording is a cassette tape of an interview between Roger Weaver and Norris in 1974.

College of Agricultural Sciences Records (RG 158), 1976-1997

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) and is made up of plaques, a scrapbook, and survey materials. Containing photographs, newspaper clippings, and event brochures, the scrapbook documents annual recognition ceremonies organized by CAS in honor of students and faculty in agriculture. The survey materials consist of questionnaires completed by alumni in 1976 about their educational experience at OSU and their current vocational situation. There is no summary report for this survey. The four plaques honor the work of the OSU Agriculture Ambassadors and outstanding junior and senior students selected by CAS.

College of Agricultural Sciences Photographs (P 036), 1968-2001

This accession is made up of photographs documenting College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) staff, students, and various events organized by the college. Numbering about 1050 images in total (550 prints, 420 negatives, 80 slides), the bulk of these photographs depict students in portrait and group shots, many of whom were recipients of CAS awards/honors and members of the groups OSU Agricultural Ambassadors and Future Farmers of America. Also depicted are views of the the award receptions and dinners where these students were honored. Other photographs in this transfer portray classroom instruction, CAS staff, agricultural research projects, and JARSI program participants. Among the CAS staff depicted in these images include: Roger Fendall, Wilbur Cooney, E.C. Stevenson, and Manning Becker. The slides are part of the presentation: "Strength Through Diversity: The Story of Oregon Agriculture."

Roger Fendall Papers, 1953-1981

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by alumnus and Agricultural Education head Roger Fendall and includes advisor lists, a certificate, class notes, course outlines, correspondence, meeting minutes, office signage, and speech notes. About half of this transfer documents Fendall's involvement with internship program development, in particular for agri-business students .The other half of this collection is primarily made up of notes reflecting college-level math classes taken by Fendall. The certificate is an award for public speaking given to Fendall by the Future Farmers of America.

Alpha Zeta - OSU Chapter Records, 1918-1983

This accession consists of materials generated by the OSU Chapter of the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta, a national honorary society for students in agriculture. Documenting membership management, communications with the national Alpha Zeta office, biennial national meetings, and organization of events for the annual "Ag Weekend" celebration, these records are made up of certificates, constitutions/bylaws, correspondence, event brochures, a history of the organization, ledgers, manuals, meeting minutes, membership lists, newsletters, newspaper clippings, photographs, posters, and a trophy. The two ledgers contain Agricultural Council minutes (Alpha Zeta had a representative on the council) and a membership registration information. Published by the national office of Alpha Zeta, the history was released for the 75th anniversary in 1972 and contains information about the OSU chapter. Numbering 89 images in total (58 prints and 31 negatives), the photographs depict Ag. Weekend activities and an initiation banquet.The trophy contains the names of students who received the Alpha Zeta Freshman Scholarship.

Various Map Collections, 1858-1972

This accession is made up of maps generated and collected by the Rangeland Resources Department that include reproductions of plat maps for Eastern Oregon townships, range type maps of the Keating Soil Conservation District, range survey maps of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, maps of livestock grazing activity on National Forest lands in Oregon, maps of the Indian Service Road System (U.S. Dept. of the Interior), the and a survey map of the Squaw Butte Experimental Range and Ranch. Numbering about 745 sheets in total, these maps have been placed into the following four map collections: "Rangeland Resources Department Maps, 1936-1967;" "Native American Maps Collection, 1875-1972;" "Central and Eastern Township Plats, 1858-1939;" and "Oregon Maps Collection."

Rangeland Resources Department Photographs (P 288), 1937-1970

Accession 2013:079, received 2013-10-21. 2 cubic feet; 8 6x8 index card boxes

This accession is made up of photographic images taken by Rangeland Resource and Animal Husbandry Department staff. In addition to depicting various research projects involving pastureland vegetation, these images also document class field trips/tours, Range Club members, weed control projects, livestock grazing trials, soil studies, the impact of ants and views of research data/paperwork management. Numbering about 1880 images in total (950 prints, 910 negatives, and 20 slides), most of the prints are attached to envelopes with handwritten notes on the date, subject matter, location, and photographer of the image. Corresponding negatives to these prints are inside the envelopes. The photographs in six of the eight boxes are arranged chronologically by date while boxes 7 and 8 are organized by topic or project. Other than a "file guide" prepared in 1947 for a group of images currently housed in box 7, there is no comprehensive inventory for these photographs. Primarily reflecting landscapes east of the Cascades, some of these images also feature projects in Clatsop, Douglas, and Lane Counties as well. The photographers are identified as D W. Hedrick, C. E. Poulton, B.J. Schrumpf, and W.T. White.

Sharon Rosenkoetter Papers, 2002-2009

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by Human Development and Family Sciences Professor Sharon Rosenkoetter that reflect her work on early childhood development research. Documenting four different projects, these records are primarily made up of completed surveys, course materials, summarized survey data, reference materials, reports, and paperwork compiled for the OSU Institutional Review Board (IRB) review. The IRB paperwork contains a combination of correspondence, blank survey forms, status reports, project outlines, and blank consent forms. The projects represented in these files are: "Early Childhood Leadership Directions," Rural Links: An Approach to Collaborative Teacher Recruitment, Preparation, and Placement," "National Early Childhood Transition Center" (NECTC), and "Story Quest". The course materials pertain to a practicum class for students involved in the Rural Links project (HDFS 410). Three photos found in this transfer depict Rosenkoetter in a group shot with the student on the Rural Links project. There are also Spanish language versions of the NECTC project surveys. Affirmative Action Office Records (RG 172), 1975-2010

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the Office of Affirmative Action and is made up of correspondence, handbooks, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, notes, policy statements, publications, reports, survey materials, and VHS videotapes. The bulk of this transfer is described as correspondence/subject files containing a combination of reference materials from non-OSU sources and documentation about university policies and their ongoing development. Subjects reflected in these files include: American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, sexual harassment, faculty diversity, salary equity, religious expression, hate speech, legislation, and laws regarding affirmative action. Other materials in this accession include Title IX compliance review records and reports with statistics on women and minority student enrollment at OSU. Numbering 11 in total, the videotape recordings pertain to minority student and faculty recruitment, compliance with ADA regulations, and sexual harassment prevention. The tapes also document lectures about the Brown vs. Board court decision, coming out, and the quest to achieve racial harmony.

Irwin Betzel Collection, 1909-circa 1920

This addition to the Irwin Betzel Collection is made up of three notebooks containing Betzel's handwritten notes on formulations for elixirs and treatments for ailments such as warts, ear aches, and gonorrhea. Primarily documenting treatments for physical conditions, these notebooks also describe other types of chemical concoctions such as steps in beer brewing, mixtures for tree sprays, and formulas for hair tonics. Paper ephemera found inside one of these notebooks consist of flyers, brochures, and bottle labels from pharmaceutical companies with product information on various compounds, tablets, and tinctures. Among these ephemera include Betzel's membership card in the C.C. Company Spatula Club of Good Mixers.

College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences Records (RG 173), 1960-2012

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences that document oceanography at OSU and is made up of a cd, correspondence, event programs, a floppy disk, newsletters, newspaper clippings, publications, reports, and staff lists. The bulk of this transfer is made up of publications with features about oceanographic research and faculty. The cd contains PDF files of the "Highlights" publication and the disk consists of files for notebook compiled on the history of the College of Oceanography. Among the historical events reflected in these records include: the presentation of the paper "Oceanography: The Making of a Science-the Oregon State Story" at the 2000 Office Naval Research colloquium in Seattle and the 1987 dedication of the Oceanography Building as Burt Hall. The event programs pertain to the OSU Salmon Bowl high school ocean sciences quiz competition.

School of Oceanography Photographs (P 203), 1960-2012

This accession consists of photographs taken and collected by the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS) that document research activities aboard the research vessels, COAS staff and students in portrait shots, the Totem research buoys, the dedication of the Oceanography Building as Burt Hall, construction of the Environmental Computing Center, and a trainee program for minorities led by Norma Small Bone. Numbering 308 images in total (271 prints and 37 slides), these photographs portray both interior and exterior views of the "Acona," "Yaquina," and "Wecoma" vessels that include shots of the Acona's construction. Most of the people depicted in these images are identified. A cd containing digital images of the 2012 retirement ceremony of the Wecoma was also found in this accession.

This accession consists of materials documenting the education and career of alumnus and Oceanography faculty William H. Quinn. In addition to photographs, this transfer includes an article reprint, a certificate, an identification card, newspaper clippings, and student work. Numbering 33 images in total (24 prints and 9 negatives), the photographs depict Quinn in portrait shots, Quinn in group shots with other oceanographers at meetings, and an unidentified swearing-in ceremony. Quinn's student notes and assignments reflect coursework in meteorology at New York University.

University Advancement Records (RG 210), 1990-2012

This accession consists of materials generated by the Office of University Advancement that document the organization of receptions, dinners, groundbreaking ceremonies, meetings, and other special events for OSU alumni, faculty/staff, students, international visitors, and organizations such as the OSU Board of Advisors. Among the events described in these records include: University Day, commencement ceremonies, farewell parties, the annual food drive campaign, receptions for the 25-Year Club, holiday gatherings, and alumni reunions. These records also reflect the design and production of greeting cards for the President's Office. In addition to programs prepared for the events, this transfer also contains cds, correspondence, flyers, guest lists, invitations, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs, schedules, and scripts. Numbering about 387 images in total (180 prints, 138 negatives, and 69 slides), the photographs depict various events.The 21 cds contain presentations, images, and card design graphics.

Douglas and Mabel McKay Papers, 1905-2001

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by alumni Douglas and Mabel McKay that document their student experience at Oregon Agricultural College, Douglas' political career in Oregon, his military service, Douglas' position as Secretary for the U.S. Department of the Interior, and his campaign for the U.S. Senate in 1956. In addition to scrapbooks that make up slightly over half of this collection, this transfer also includes appointment calendars, artifacts, books, certificates, correspondence, diplomas, drawings, event programs, greeting cards, guestbooks, a map, military records, newspaper clippings, photograph albums, photographs, plaques, a poster, ribbons, speeches, and ticket stubs. A number of files were arranged and described chronologically and this order has been retained. Covering the span of years from college to the McKays' passing in 1959 and 1970, these files mostly contain newspaper clippings, event programs, and photographs. Numbering about 850 prints images in total, the photographs include a number of portrait shots of Douglas, Mabel, the McKay's children and grandchildren, the McKay's parents, and members of the Eisenhower cabinet. The images primarily reflect events and activities associated with McKay's political career and depict him in attendance at ceremonies, receiving visitors in Washington D.C., socializing at dinners/parties, and campaigning for office. Several of these photographs feature Douglas with Mabel. Among the images are depictions of life at Camp Adair during World War II where McKay served as a captain. There are a few shots of McKay's car dealership as well. The artifacts reflect Douglas' military service, student experience, and political career and include belt buckles, bullet casings, buttons, medals, flags, ribbons, patches, and a lawn sign.

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the University Archives and is made up of correspondence, forms, handbooks, meeting minutes, notes, policy statements, reports, and survey materials. In addition to the management of nonpermanent records generated by OSU, these materials document many other activities by Archives' staff including: the development of exhibits, organization of workshops, maintenance of campus records centers, handling of requests for permission to publish, assisting researchers in the reference room, planning of the move into the OSU Library in 2003, coordination of collection loans from other repositories, Northwest Digital Archives project planning, and involvement with state level heritage organizations such as the State Historic Records Advisory Board.

This accession consists of materials generated by the Human Development and Family Sciences Department (HDFS) and is made up of certificates, curriculum materials, handbooks, a historical timeline, a list of graduate degree recipients, meeting minutes, newsletters, reports, and survey materials. In addition to department staff meetings and retreats, these records also document annual reporting by HDFS, proceedings of the HDFS Advisory Committee, program accreditation, and the results of surveys conducted by the department. Some of the files of meeting minutes also contain course outlines and syllabi.

Agnes Gregson Papers, circa 1870-1971

This accession consists of materials collected by alumna Agnes Gregson that reflects her student experience at Oregon Agricultural College and is made up of dance cards, decals, event programs, grade reports, greeting cards, letters, nametags, newspaper clippings, photographs, postcards, and ticket stubs. Primarily documenting activities and events at OAC, this transfer includes a few items reflecting Gregson's grade and high school years in South Dakota and Salem, Oregon. Numbering 64 prints in total, the photographs largely consist of portrait shots of Agnes and various family members and friends, most of whom are unidentified. Among the portraits is a tintype of an unidentified man. There are also images of Agnes with fellow students as well as a group shot of Agnes with other alumni at 50th reunion gathering in 1971.

Oregon Nutrition Council Records, 1924-1988

This accession is made up of materials generated by the the Oregon Nutrition Council (ONC) and includes annual reports, bylaws/constitutions, correspondence, flyers, an historical essay, meeting minutes, membership lists, newsletters, publications, and treasurer's statements. In addition to regular meetings/conferences organized by the ONC, these records document studies conducted by the ONC, publications featuring research from ONC projects, and action by the ONC on state legislation relating to nutrition. Among OSU faculty involved in the ONC include: Margaret Fincke, Georgene Barte, Jessie McComb, and Jessamine Williams.

Pride Center Records (RG 236), 2000-2013

Accession 2013:081, received 2013-11-05. 2.2 cubic feet; 2 archives boxes and 1 12x17 oversize box

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the OSU Pride Center and is made up of certificates, evaluations, event brochures, flyers, forms, manuals, meeting minutes, newsletters, newspaper clippings, notes, office logs/desk calendar pages, photographs, posters, reports, and stickers. About two-thirds of this transfer is made up of printed matter from mostly non-OSU sources collected by the Center for reference and distribution. Organized by subject, these files address topics such as LGBT student groups at other universities, mental health, practicing safe sex, scholarships for LGBT students, same-sex marriage, bisexuality, transgender identities, allies, and potential speakers/performers for events. Among the published matter found in these files is an oversized document in braille.The other materials document event planning, meetings of the Queer Resource Center Advisory Board, the Pride Center building, guidelines for a Queer Resource Center coordinator search, and a self-assessment report of OSU LGBT programs. Information recorded on the office logs and desk calendar pages include visitors to the Center, calls/e-mails received, and events organized by the Pride Center. The two prints depict a group of unidentified students.

Radiation Center Records (RG 202), 1953-2008

This accession consists of materials generated by the OSU Radiation Center that include annual reports, book plans, correspondence, curriculum vitae, grant proposals, handbooks, historical timelines, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs, publications, research notebooks, and surveys. In addition to documenting the management of the TRIGA reactor and nuclear materials on campus, these records also reflect various administrative aspects of the Radiation Center including: budgetary management, equipment procurement, radiation safety monitoring, facilities maintenance, long range planning, awarding of fellowships, coordination with law enforcement agencies on forensics testing, interaction with government energy agencies, and research for the U.S. military. About one third of this transfer reflects the Radiation Center's neutron activation analysis and forensics testing program and neutron radiography research conducted for the U.S. Army. Numbering 375 images in total (200 prints, 160 negatives, 15 slides) the photographs depict Radiation Center staff working with various equipment including the TRIGA reactor, classroom instruction, the Radiation Center building, portrait shots of center staff, and nuclear engineering students.

Chih H. Wang Papers, 1947-1984

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by Radiation Center Director and Nuclear Engineering Professor Chih Hsin Wang. Primarily documenting Wang's research activities and management of the Radiation Center, this collection is made up of article reprints, conference papers, correspondence, course materials, grant proposals, notes, publications, reference materials, reports, student theses, and survey materials. About half of this transfer pertains to research projects, workshops, and training programs funded by agencies such as the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Air Force. For these projects Wang served as principal investigator. Among the projects include the grants that established the TRIGA reactor at OSU and the 4-year degree in nuclear engineering. The correspondence reflects interaction between Wang and various OSU departments/colleges, power companies, federal government agencies, and fellow researchers. Among the topics addressed in the correspondence include: research projects, the coordination of Radiation Center tours, surveys, and Wang's reviews of peer research. The theses represent work by graduate students Wang advised.

Dona Dinsdale Papers, 1943-1944

Among the topics covered include: the receipt of letters from Dona, sending clothes back home for laundering, suffering from colds, gas rationing, money for board, and social activities.

Carol Andrews Papers, 1991-2012

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by Carol Andrews that document her work on website design and construction for OSU as a part of the Office of University Relations. Made up of correspondence, certificates, greeting cards, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, notebooks, position descriptions, and status reports, these files primarily reflect Andrews' interaction with various departments and colleges in the development of websites. In addition to correspondence and printed copies of the finished webpages, these records also include initial drafts of the sites, notes, reference materials, and examples of the source coding. Among these projects is the first OSU webpage, launched in 1995. The notebooks and status reports track various projects and contain notations about meetings, tasks, priorities, time spent, progress made, and ideas. Andrews' role as an instructor in web development through cooperative learning groups is also reflected in these records as well as her participation on university committees such as the Web Advisory Group.

Mary Louise Armstrong Collection, 1942-1954

This addition to the Mary L. Armstrong Collection is made up of photographs, a newspaper clipping, and a radio script. In addition to two portrait shots of Armstrong, the prints also depict Armstrong delivering public presentations on meat cookery as a part of her work with the Live Stock and Meat Board. There is also a portrait shot of Dean of Home Economics Ava Milam Clark. The script, written by Clark for her "Adventures of a Home Economist" radio show, details Armstrong's life and accomplishments.

College of Home Economics Photograph Collection (P 044), circa 1940

This accession is made up of eight photographic prints depicting kitchen areas within several homes. Unidentified and undated, these images focus upon the use of space in these different kitchens in the storage of cookware, dishes, utensils, stoves, and chairs. The images may have been featured in an Extension publication authored by OSU Home Economics professor Maud Wilson, who wrote extensively on household storage, time management patterns of housewives and kitchen spatial planning. The photographs were collected by OSU staff member Barbara York when she worked for the College of Home Economics.

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) and is made up of brochures, budgetary documents, correspondence, drawings, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs, and reports. The bulk of these records relate to renovation and construction projects for three residence halls (Weatherford, Hawley, and Halsell) and include budgetary information, scripts of testimony given before the state Legislative Emergency Board, feasibility studies, quarterly progress reports, and architectural drawings. Other materials in this transfer pertain to a planned wall mural for the Kerr Administration building and the process of compliance with Fire Department regulations for that project. Numbering 35 photographs in total (8 prints and 27 slides), the images all depict art by Anthony Heinz May. The two UHDS reports consist of one annual (2011/12) and one quarterly (Fall 2012).

Kenneth Hedberg Papers, 1966-1986

This accession consists of two sets of correspondence between Linus Pauling and representatives of Oregon State University, including Ken Hedberg, President James Jensen, President Robert MacVicar and President John Byrne.

The first group of letters document the repair of Pauling's relationship with his alma mater, after two decades of poor relations. The correspondence also documents the University's efforts at that time to secure custody of the Pauling Papers.

The second group of letters detail Pauling's communications with President Byrne in which Pauling's history of rocky relations with OSU are discussed as are the negotiations that ultimately led to Pauling's donation of his papers to OSU in 1986.

Rodney Tripp Collection, 1875-2001

This accession consists of materials collected by alumnus Rodney Tripp that document his association with OSU and is made up of buttons, a coin, a keychain, a membership card, newspaper clippings, a paddle, a patch, publications, and a statue. In addition to an alumni newsletter sent to graduates of the Secretarial Science Department, the publications include an issue of "Sports Illustrated" magazine about the 2001 OSU football team and a 1875 edition of the Benton County Almanac.Tripp's membership in the Beaver Club is represented by the keychain, membership card, and the patch. Numbering 26 in total, the buttons mostly pertain to annual Shriners Club gatherings on Mary's Peak (1948-1981) but also reflect the 1962 Homecoming Game, Bill Glass, and the 2001 OSU Alumni Association Bowl Tour. The paddle documents Tripp's membership in the Theta Xi Fraternity. Carved of wood by an unknown artist, the 10- inch high statue is modeled on the Benny the Beaver mascot ca. 1990s. The coin commemorates the centenary of the founding of Corvallis in 1957.

W.F. McCulloch Collection, 1926

This addition to the Walter F. McCulloch Collection is made up of a travel log written by McCulloch documenting a week long camping expedition at Murtle Lake in British Columbia with S. S. Harrison. With day by day accounts of the journey starting from the Blue River and proceeding southwest toward Birch Island, the log also contains photographs of the trip and a hand drawn map tracing the route hiked. In addition to views of Murtle Lake, the photographs also depict the campsites, Dawson Falls, Helmcken Falls, and their log raft "Jimmy Biscuits." McCulloch attributes the photography to Harrison.

This addition to the Robert E. McDole Papers is made up of 58 photographic slides taken and collected by McDole as a part of his work as an Extension Soils Specialist with the University of Idaho. Depicting agricultural landscapes in Idaho and Oregon with a few soil profile views, some of these images were used in the book "Idaho Soils Atlas" a work authored by McDole, Raymond Barker, and Glen Hogan. McDole featured the other slides in presentations and educational outreach.

John C. Ringle Papers, 1960-2012

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by Nuclear Engineering professor John C. Ringle that include article reprints, conference papers, correspondence, course materials, curriculum vitae, employment records, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, photographs, presentations, publications, and reports. In addition to documenting Ringle's research on radioactive waste management and nuclear reactor safety, these materials also reflect his instruction of classes, his published editorials on nuclear power, work on ballot measures regarding the Trojan Power Plant, and involvement in the American Nuclear Society organization. These files reflect Ringle's work on a number of Nuclear Engineering Dept. projects including: reactor accident scenario training (SAR), advisory work with special students from the Taiwan Power Company (TaiPower), and curriculum development. The course materials include lecture notes, class outlines, exam masters, student papers, and overhead transparencies. Numbering a total of 42 photographs (35 slides, 4 prints, and 3 negatives) most of the images were assembled by Ringle for a slide presentation to the Corvallis Engineers Club and originated from the collections of the OSU Special Collections and Archives. The 4 prints show unidentified staff/researchers at the control panels for the OSU TRIGA reactor.

William G. Robbins Papers, 1992-2006

This addition to the William G. Robbins Papers consists of materials collected by Robbins during his research for a book project envisioned as a follow-up to "Colony and Empire." Robbins planned for this book, "The Insurgent West," to be an examination of the "cultures of resistance" that shaped the American West rather than a study of the impact of capitalist values that he explored in "Colony and Empire." Made up of article reprints, book chapters, correspondence, magazines, newspaper clippings, notes, project proposals, and talks delivered by Robbins, these files reflect the research planning process which include applications for travel funding to various archives in Oregon and outside the state. In addition to documenting historical labor movements throughout the western U.S. and Canada, the sources in this transfer also reflect Mexican-American communities, radical farmer movements, railroads, utopian communities, and Mormon settlements. "The Insurgent West" was never published.

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the Office of Greek Life that are made up of bylaws, cds, a DVD, correspondence, course materials, flyers, handbooks/manuals, meeting minutes, membership statistics, newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, policy statements, publications, reports, scripts for presentations, survey records, and an identification badge. In addition to enrollment and academic standing information about OSU fraternities and sororities, these records also reflect various aspects of the University's management of campus Greek life such as leadership training retreats, coursework designed for the Greek community, safety regulation coordination, judicial sanctioning, and the organization of matriculation ceremonies. About one-third of these files contain publications, bylaws, and other information from individual chapters and are organized by house name. About half of the photographs (50 prints in all) were prepared for an exhibit on Greek life at OSU while the others depict a benefit bike event by members of Pi Kappa Phi and the wedding of alumna Erin Hulce. The five cds contain a combination of matriculation scripts, Panhellenic Council documents, and Greek life at USC. The DVD, "Girls Fight Back," is a non-OSU production about women's self-defense.

Forestry Media Center Photographs (P 299), 1942-2000

This accession is made up of photographic slides that served as a lending library of images maintained by the Forestry Media Center (FMC). Organized by the subject matter and the geographical location of the views depicted, this collection numbers about 18800 slides in total. In addition to documenting timber management, harvesting, and processing, the slides also pertain to tree diseases, forest products research, insect damage, wildlife, College of Forestry field trips and workshops, soil erosion, resource recreation management, and nurseries. Images relating to the Forestry Media Center include shots of staff, the various logos for FMC, audio-visual equipment, production facilities, and the Self Learning Center. About one-third of these images were described as the "McCulloch Slide Files" after Forestry Dean W.F. McCulloch. These images are primarily identified by geographical location and reflect various natural and urban landscapes throughout the U.S. as well as Canada, Japan, and Russia.

This accession is made up of photographic images featured in various articles, publications, and reports reflecting research conducted by College of Forestry faculty. In addition to annual reports, the images were published in circulars, informational brochures, bulletins, research journals, and meeting proceedings. Numbering about 592 photographs in total (480 prints, 50 negatives and 62 slides), the images depict projects at the Forestry Research Lab, forestry students doing fieldwork, lumber processing, logging operations, tree specimen samples, forest streams, and portrait shots of forestry faculty. Among the subjects documented in the published works where these images were featured include: lumber drying, douglas fir seedling survival, yarding delays in timber harvesting, buffer strips for creeks, bioassay research, the strength of fasteners in plywood joints, skyline logging, insect damage to wood, and pole preservation studies. Faculty pictured in the photographs are Carl Stoltenberg, Daris Adams, and Henry Froehlich.

Claud L. Booth Photograph Album (P 300), 1919-1973

This accession consists of a photograph album assembled by alumnus Claud L. Booth that reflects his student experience at Oregon Agricultural College. Among the people and activities depicted in the images include the Rook-Sophomore Tug-of -War, student athletes, the pep rally band marching through Corvallis, yell leaders, and athletic contests. Sports documented in these images include baseball, basketball, wrestling, football, and track and consist of portrait shots of both athletes and the coaches. Booth is pictured in several group shots as a member of the baseball team, the soccer team, as a student, and later as a participant of an alumni reunion gathering. There are also views from travels outside the Corvallis area to New Orleans, Mount Shasta, El Paso, and Orr's Lake (Oregon). Images found detached from the album have been placed into a separate folder that is stored with the album. In addition to the photographs, this transfer also contains a ribbon for the 1921 civil war football game and a dance card for the Varsity "O" winter formal.

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by Human Development and Family Sciences Professor Geraldine Olson that includes budgetary records, certificates, correspondence, course materials, curriculum vitae, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, notes, overhead transparencies, photographs, project proposals, publications, and reports. Primarily documenting Olson's involvement in an US Information Agency Scholar Exchange Program project with university faculty from Nepal, these records also reflect Olson's instruction of coursework and work with the OSU International Degree Program. In addition to a proposal and final reports summarizing the Nepal faculty project "Family, Technology, and Ecology Dynamics: Public Policy Dimensions," this transfer includes reference materials assembled by Olson relating to the economic and political culture for women in Nepal and India.

These materials are made up of reports, newsletters, newspaper clippings, articles, conference proceedings, and brochures. Records reflecting Olson's instructional work and class presentations (mostly for HOEC 300) focus upon the subjects of valuation of household work and family time use calculation. Among the photographs include images depicting Olson, Marsha Greer, Chandra Bhadra, and other faculty involved in the Nepal exchange project.

Robbins Papers is made up of materials collected and generated by History Professor Robbins that include article reprints, books, cds, correspondence, course outlines/syllabi, manuscript drafts, newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, speeches, student papers, and a thesis. Primarily amassed by Robbins in the course of research for books, articles, and presentations, these materials also document Robbins' instruction of classes, review of books, and delivery of talks/speeches to a variety of different audiences. Among the books resulting from the research represented in these files include: "Nature’s Northwest: The Pacific Slope in the 20th Century," "Oregon: This Storied Land," and "Landscapes of Promise: The Oregon Story." The thesis reflects Robbins' doctoral work at the University of Oregon. Four of the five books found in this transfer are inscribed to Robbins by the authors. Numbering 118 photographic slides in total, the images primarily depict artists' representations of the 19th century American landscape and the interaction between Native Americans and settlers. Other slides include historic views of the Columbia River and pre-mechanized agriculture.

In addition to documenting seed breeding research for alfalfa, fescue, and clover, these records also pertain to the centennial celebration of the Crop and Soil Science Department in 2007, accreditation reviews, course instruction, involvement with regional wheat industry organizations, and flax processing in the Willamette Valley. Numbering 295 images in total (157 prints, 104 negatives, and 34 slides), the photographs mostly depict research projects at Hyslop Farm and events at the centennial celebration.The slides are part of a presentation on conservation provisions of the Food Security Act of 1985. The moving image recordings on DVD (34), VHS videotape (23), and film (1 reel) document course lectures, speeches by Crop Science faculty Russ Karow and Norman Borlaug, Cereal Field Day events, flax processing, and an integrated crop management teleconference. Topics addressed in the course lectures include sustainable agriculture, genetically modified organisms, and bioproducts. The drawings and plans pertain to fiber flax processing equipment and the layout of a flax processing plant.

This accession is made up of minutes documenting meetings of the OSU Chapter of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Spanning the winter and spring terms of 1918, the minutes address chapter business matters such as member roll calls, invitations to the house for dinner, treasurer reports, new pledges, the ordering of badges, scheduling for initiation, organization of social events, and practice for the annual "stunt." Founded in 1895, the ACO chapter at OSU was chartered in 1915 and continues in operation today.

Carey Strome Papers, 1911-1914

This accession is made up of materials generated and collected by alumnus Carey Strome that reflect his study of agriculture and science at Oregon Agricultural College (OAC). In addition to a tablet of class notes documenting a bacteriology course, this accession also includes course materials, class assignments, and publications collected by Strome during his student years. The course materials consist of livestock score cards and dairy separator work assignments. Other than a copy of the 1913 "Water Laws of Oregon," the publications were all published by OAC as instructional guides in insect fumigation, farming business practices, and logarithms for chemical calculations.

Harvey L. McAlister Collection, 1898

This addition to the Harvey L. McAlister Collection consists of letters from McAlister to Charlotte "Lottie" Herbert Blake and a portrait shot of McAlister in military dress. McAlister wrote the letters while stationed in the Philippines during the Spanish- American War in 1898. In the letters, McAlister describes how his regiment is faring in the tropical climate, the food given to the troops, his thoughts on the Spanish presence in Manila, local meetings of the YMCA, health/mortality among the troops in the regiment, local currency, and the state of mail service. Found with these letters is a note from Lottie to former student Norman Hindes, to whom she gave the letters and photograph. McAlister enclosed the portrait of himself in uniform to Lottie in one of the letters.

This accession is an addition to the Campus Club Alumni Collection made up of correspondence, DVDs, essays, membership lists, nametags, newsletters, newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, questionnaires, and a sound recording. Documenting reunions of former residents of the Campus Club Cooperative House, these materials also reflect the compiling of Campus Club history from yearbooks and other sources, the tracking of Campus Club alumni, reunion organization, and the writing of narrative accounts about personal experiences and history at Campus Club. Numbering about 313 images in total (312 prints and 1 negative), the photographs consist of a combination of views from reunion gatherings and shots taken by Campus Club residents during their student years. The student views include group shots of the residents in front of the house, group excursions, and the scenes of everyday life inside the house. The sound recording is a cassette tape documenting the 1996 reunion gathering with attendees talking about their lives since college. The 3 DVDs contain slideshows of images which document Campus Club history and the 2010 reunion gathering.

E. Wayne Courtney Papers, 2005-2013

This accession is an addition to the E. Wayne Courtney Papers made up of publications written by Courtney on a variety of subjects. About two-thirds of the publications are oriented toward statistics instruction and include two textbooks on statistical analysis and the "statistics for educators" series with seven different volumes on sampling, reliability, scaling, qualitative methods, hypotheses, distributions, and empirical methods. The others are more narrative and story-like in nature. One of the volumes, "Sequah: An Indian Girl Named Sara," drew inspiration from Courtney's Native American heritage and culture. Two of the other publications pertain to the wildlife and landscapes around the Yaquina Bay area (birds in particular). "Hay River Notes" is largely drawn from daily log entries kept by Courtney that reflect his life living on the Hay River in Wisconsin for 6 years. "Devon's Niche" is a novel centered on the life of a college professor facing personal hardships.

John L. Robbins Photograph Collection (P 295), 1966-1972

This addition to the John L. Robbins Photograph Collection is made up of images taken by Robbins during his student years at OSU. Consisting of a mixture of B&W and color negatives, contact sheet prints, mounted prints, slides, and transparencies, the images number about 3764 shots in total (3368 negatives, 337 prints, 59 slides/transparencies) and document a variety of campus activities and scenes. Among the subjects depicted in these images include: concerts by musicians/comedians, views of dormitory life, athletic games, group shots of student organizations, lectures by visiting public figures and politicians, snow on campus, theatrical performances, protest rallies and marches on campus, commencement ceremonies. Solar and lunar eclipses, and Homecoming Weekend activities. The images of athletic contests primarily reflect football and men's basketball, but also include wresting, track and field, soccer, rugby, volleyball, baseball, gymnastics, and crew. Performers pictured in these images include Neil Diamond, Pat Paulsen, Three Dog Night, Jonathan Winters, and Iron Butterfly. Non-photographic materials in this transfer include clippings from the OSU Barometer newspaper that featured images by staff photographer Robbins. Other printed matter consist of a brochure and poster for the Memorial Union Spring Photo Salon exhibit for which Robbins served as chairman.

Reflecting subjects such as indeterminate structures, hydraulic machinery, reinforced concrete, foundations, and the strength of materials, the notebooks contain class assignments, quizzes, and notes.The letter is a commendation from President Ronald Reagan honoring Hironaka for his innovative solution to an asphalt pavement blistering problem at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, South Carolina. In addition to a portrait shot of Hironaka as a student, the photographic prints (5 in total) depict him at a summer job for the U.S. Forest Service, as part of a group shot of students in a road design engineering class, and on stage as a part of the University Theatre production of "The Teahouse of the August Moon." The book, "Engineering Mechanics", was one of Hironaka's college texts.

Warren C. Wilson Western Alpines Project Lantern Slides (P 298), 1936-1938

This accession is made up of nine lantern slides depicting images by Warren C. Wilson that document mountain landscapes photographed during a western alpine flora collecting trip. Primarily reflecting the Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan areas in Northern Washington, these slides also offer views of Mount Rainier, Jasper National Park, and the Portland Airport on Swan Island. Included with these images is a narrative account of the trip published as an article in National Horticultural Magazine. Entitled "Collecting Western Alpines by Air," the article features one of the nine images. Taped notes on some of the other slides correspond to page numbers in the narrative where the subject matter of the slide is referenced in the text. In the article, Wilson writes that he collected the plants for the Department of Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture at Cornell University for experimentation regarding culture and propagation.

Sears, Ernest (Memorabilia Collection), 2001

This accession is made up of the publication: "Ernie R. and Lotti M.S. Sears Plant Growth Facility." The booklet details the careers of alumnus Ernest Sears and colleague/wife Lotti M. Steinitz Sears and their legacy of research in wheat genetics at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Published in 2001, the booklet commemorates the naming of the 12-greenhouse plant growth facility complex after the Sears.

Raised in Bethel, Oregon, Ernest studied farm crops at Oregon State College graduating with an undergraduate degree in 1932. Going on to earn to a doctorate at Harvard by 1936, Sears that same year began a lifelong career with the USDA at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He died in 1991.

Oliver Matthews Collection, 1956-2013

This addition to the Oliver V. Matthews Collection is made up of correspondence between Al Hobart and Matthews regarding the identification of trees around Miller Lake in the Siskiyou Mountains of Southern Oregon. The letters reference exploratory hiking trips into the region made by both men, Hobart's studies of the area flora, the exchange of foliage specimens, bibliographic resources, published acknowledgements of Matthews' work, and the various species of tree found in the Siskiyous. Also included in this transfer are 2 cds containing images and writings from Al Hobart that document his research on the flora of the Siskiyous and his regular newspaper column "Winding Trails." Most of the images depict Siskiyou area plants and landscapes, some of which were featured in a slide presentation prepared by Hobart. Lists of the particular shots Hobart used for the slide show are available in this accession. The slides include shots of Hobart and his friends on camping and hiking trips. An article about Hobart's and Matthews' interaction, published in the 2013 edition of the journal of the Native Plant Society of Oregon, is also part of this transfer.

Alma Grace Johnson Papers, 1918-1933

This accession consists of bulletins, circulars, and manuals collected by Household Administration professor Alma Grace Johnson. Pertaining to the topics of family budgetary management, thrift education, and the tracking of household expenses, these publications include a circular written by Johnson on kitchen space planning. Some of the publications contain notations by Johnson. These reference materials were published by a combination of university Extension Services, private financial institutions, and the federal government. Also included in this transfer is an account book documenting a student's expenses from March through June of 1933. This book appears to have been a class assignment for a household administration (HAD 340) course.

Maple Manor Cooperative House Collection, 1940-1995

This accession consists of materials documenting the Maple Manor Cooperative House and is made up of constitutions, correspondence, financial records, a guest book, a map, meeting minutes, membership lists, newsletters, newspapers, photograph albums, photographs, printing blocks, scrapbook, and two flags. While reflecting the management of Maple Manor and the daily lives of the residents during its operation (1940-1943), the bulk of this collection documents the post college lives of the residents through letters, cards, newsletters, and photographs illustrating their military service in World War II and family lives after the war. The correspondence also pertains to reunions of Maple Manor alumni in 1988 and 1994 as well as communications with cooperative associations at other universities. In addition to depicting residents in portrait and group shots during their student years at the house, the photographs (about 30 loose prints in all) and albums also portray post campus life and includes images of girlfriends, wives, children, fellow servicemen, and the beloved house mother "cooky". The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, greeting cards, wedding announcements, letters, poems, event programs, work schedules, and photographs. Some of these items were found loose in the photo albums as well. One of the two flags is a standard 48-star American flag while the other contains 39 stars in five rows that might represent the number of Maple Manor residents that served in the military during World War II.

In the letters to her parents that comprise the bulk of this accession, Dinsdale details her daily life at OSC with descriptions of events organized by her sorority Sigma Kappa, the process of pledging, travels on the bus to and from Corvallis, college expenses, tickets for the graduation ceremony, campus events, clothes needed for various occasions, receiving guests, letter writing, and class assignments. The diploma reflects Dinsdale's graduation in 1947 with an undergraduate degree. The photograph is a print depicting Dinsdale in a group shot with her fellow graduating sorority sisters.

This accession consists of materials generated by the Oregon Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (AFS) and is made up of bylaws, cds, conference proceedings, correspondence, floppy diskettes, handbooks, meeting minutes, membership lists, newsletters, newspaper clippings, photographs, a plaque, policy statements, questionnaires, reports, and resolutions. Primarily reflecting the chapter's work in addressing the protection of fish populations and habitat, these records document various activities by the chapter such as the review of national forest management plans, sponsorship of legislation, filing of petitions for endangered species listing of particular fish, the collection and analysis of data, and the issuance of policy statements/testimony in response to legislative bills and projects. Among the issues impacting fish health addressed in these records include: salvage logging, hydroelectric development, reservoir drawdown, and tax incentives for riparian zones. These materials also contain proceedings from annual meetings of the Oregon Chapter and the AFS western region. Numbering 107 images in total (104 negatives and 3 prints), the photographs depict the 1983 AFS Oregon Chapter meeting at OSU. The 4 diskettes and 3 cds contain slide shows about chapter history, proceedings of a cutthroat trout symposium, scholarship information, the chapter's code of ethics, the annual meeting handbook, and computer code for managing data on "chisquare runs."

Charles R. Ross Papers, 1964-2001

This accession is an addition to the Charles R. Ross Papers consisting of newspaper clippings, notebooks, photographic slides, sound recordings, and speeches. Numbering 585 slides, the images were prepared by Ross for presentations on land use "man-to-land ratio" and related issues of population growth, open public spaces, pollution, and poverty. These slides are a combination of views of urban/rural landscapes throughout the world, text written by Ross, reproductions of print media ads/articles, and city maps showing parklands. Among the images include views of the Corvallis waterfront and other parts of town. The 22 notebooks, dating from 1996 to 2001, contain notes from Greenbelt Land Trust and Corvallis Open Space Commission meetings, quotes/topics for speeches at Toastmaster events, notes from lectures, drafts of speeches, statistics about population growth, sketches of property boundaries/locations, and contact information for various people. The sound recordings are two cassette tapes that contain speeches by Ross on "a concept for Eastern states" and the "future of forestry." The clippings contain stories about Ross' work and recognition as a tree farmer, forester, and land preservation efforts.

Alice Fisher Community Drama 466 Scrapbook, 1931

This accession is made up of a scrapbook assembled by alumna Alice Fisher for a Community Drama class (PSp 466) taken during Spring term of 1931. Primarily consisting of images clipped out of magazines and newspapers that illustrate clothing and furniture styles from various historical eras, the scrapbook also contains class notes, a copy of the final examination, and a program for a production of My Fair Lady" performed in Portland. Some of the clippings also depict stage sets from off-campus theatre productions. The following is a description of the class from the 1930/31 General Catalog: "Designed to meet the needs of community leaders. The community drama idea; plays suitable for use in school or community; the staff; make-up; stage setting and costumes; modern tendencies in stage setting, costuming; directing and play production."

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by Extension Food and Nutrition Specialists Carolyn Raab, Judith Forest, and Velma Seat that document statewide educational programming in the subjects of food buying, food preservation, meal preparation, and nutrition. In addition to teacher and leader lesson guides that make up about half of this transfer, these materials also include cds, correspondence, DVDs, meeting minutes, narrative work reports, newspaper clippings, photographs, publications, slide presentations, sound recordings, videotapes, and a maraschino cherry kit. Numbering about 4200 images in total (700 prints, 600 negatives, and 2900 slides), the photographs depict statewide Extension training meetings, volunteer recognition events, and the EFNEP Program. Among the topics covered in the 50 slide presentations include: nutrition, food shopping, meal planning, diets, and food preparation. In addition to recordings of food safety teleconferences, the VHS videotapes (33 in total) include films produced by the Extension Service on food preservation techniques, nutrition, and biotechnology. The 9 DVDs contain footage of focus group research on fruit and vegetable consumption, osteoporosis prevention exercises, "Food Hero" nutrition consultations, and a guide for teen parents in feeding their children. The sound recordings (17 cassette tapes and 1 cd) include public service announcements on food preservation, food safety presentations, slide presentation audio tracks, and songs about the value of eating breakfast. The 7 cds pertain to nutrition education, Extension program planng/evaluation, and recipe cards in Spanish. Records of the Oregon Association for Family and Community Education were also found in this accession.

Griffis, George P., Papers, 1926-1948

This addition to the George P. Griffis Papers consists of a letter, newspaper clippings, photographs, a souvenir packet of snapshots, and a student handbook. Numbering 45 negatives in total, the images depict fruit picking and processing, campus views, shots of local downtowns, lumber operations in the St. Johns area of Portland, a high school basketball game, the Hanson Poultry Farm, and the erection of a tower for the KGW radio station. A few of the fruit processing images were featured in an article by Griffis about the Harry and David Company. The downtown views were taken in Corvallis, Albany, Salem, Medford, and McMinnville. The souvenir packet is made up of 15 snapshots of the OAC campus. The student handbook contains annotations by Griffis about his class schedule and the letter is an invitation to membership from the Alpha Delta Sigma Honorary Society for journalism students.

Harriet's Photograph Collection (HC), 1931

This accession is made up of a photographic print depicting the student body of Oregon State College in a panoramic shot posed in the library quad. Collected by alumnus Paul Anselm Stangeland, who is featured in the photo near the middle of the gathering, the image dates to 1931 and was likely taken from the campus bandstand destroyed with the construction of the current OSU Library in 1963. Hailing from Astoria, Oregon, Stangeland graduated in 1931 with a degree in civil engineering.

This accession is made up of materials reflecting the poetry and career of English Professor Roger Weaver and includes biographical materials, books, a journal, and a sound recording. The four books all feature poems by Weaver and are titled: "The Ladder of Desire," "Traveling on the Great Wheel," "Reading the Stones," and "Five Songs for Voice, Piano, and Cello." Containing poems, drawings, and narrative entries, the journal documents Weaver's daily ruminations and thoughts during the summer of 1994 in Greece. The sound recording is a cassette tape with readings by Weaver of his poems from "Traveling on the Great Wheel."

Documenting the administration of various OSU research centers/institutes, research park planning, interaction with foundations, external program reviews, and investigation of venture funding, about half of these records pertain to the distribution of awards administered through the Research Office for OSU faculty and student research projects. The awards are oriented toward specific purposes: such as, equipment purchases, undergraduate research projects, building renovations/repairs, College of Liberal Arts faculty projects, and granting of release time for faculty research. This accession consists of photographic images taken by alumnus John L. Robbins during his student years at Oregon State University. Made up of 722 images in total (720 slides and 2 negatives), these photographs depict football games, concerts by musicians and comedians, oceanographic research, a speech by civil rights activist Julian Bond, the Turtle Derby, basketball games, track and field events, carnival rides at night, classroom shots, and views of campus. Among the performers featured in these images are Pat Paulsen, Carlos Santana, Donovan, The 5th Dimension, Mason Williams, Jonathan Winters, and the Rascals. Some of these images were featured in the 1970 and 1971 Beaver Yearbooks.

This accession consists of materials generated and collected by the OSU Sea Grant Program and is made up of conference proceedings, correspondence, flyers, newsletters, newspaper clippings, publications, reports, and research proposals. Much of this material documents interaction and collaboration between Sea Grant and other organizations focused on marine management, research, and protection (including the national Sea Grant Program). Other organizations represented in these files include: the National Marine Fisheries Service, the Oregon Coastal Conservation and Development Commission, the Oregon Coastal Zone Management Association, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Otter Trawl Commission of Oregon, and the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy. Among the topics addressed in these records include: aquaculture, water pollution, marine entanglement, invasive species, and oyster diseases. Numbering 341 images (267 prints, 70 negatives, 4 slides) in total, the photographs depict COAS staff, various exterior and interior views of the Hatfield Marine Science Center, award ceremonies, research vessels, the OSU Totem research buoy, the 1965 dedication ceremony of the Hatfield Marine Science Center, and a coastal field trip by Educational Opportunities Program students. There are also scenic shots of the coastal landscape that are part of this transfer.
