Mr. James H. S. Moynahan
Pump Log Point
South Truro, Mass.
Dear Mr. Moynahan:
I am pleased to have received your letter of 29 August, with the suggestion that there be declared a national day of mourning, meditation, and prayer for peace.
I do not have any strong feeling about the value of this suggestion. I think it would require a great deal of effort, and that only a large organization, such as the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, could arrange it. It might be worthwhile for you to get in touch with this Committee, in New York, to see what they think.
I believe that political pressure on President Johnson is what is needed.
Sincerely,
Linus Pauling
