- Letter from Virginia Durr to AHP, RE: Durr wanted to see the Paulings in New York, but had to come home early because Cliff's brother was being operated on for a brain tumor. The brother is doing well now. Durr discusses the nasty things being said in the paper about LP and others, which really bother the Durrs. They are going to England at the end of the month for Cliff to give some lectures on economics. Bernal visited the Durrs for several days and they again found him to be charming and intelligent. Durr didn't get a Christmas card from Frances Herring, and asks AHP how she is doing. Durr met Ann Gertler, who says that AHP is organizing an Intercontinental Peace Conference of Women to be held in Mexico. Durr got the impression that Gertler really wanted to help with the meeting, so she gives AHP Gertler's address. Durr loved the picture of the Paulings at the ranch.
