Dearest Sweetheart:
I love you, darling. Yours [sic] + Linus' letter came this morning. I'm glad Jeff is such a nice boy. Are you glad that I'll be with you a week from today? I love you, sweetest girl, more than anything in the whole world.
Yesterday after writing you I went to see Pabst, the mineralogist here. He has given up attempting to do any x-ray work. He gave me some crystals, and promised me more. I talked to him till 430, and then to Eastman till 6, and then walked down to the Baxters' apartment. Baxter, now working for the Shell Development Co., has gained 40 pounds since getting married! He's as fat as a pig. His wife is as thin as ever. She is still working for a PhD, and attends my lectures. Then I came home, read, and went to bed. Mrs Baxter's dinner was very good. Their apartment is attractive.
This morning, after reading your letter, I saw Bray, who bored me for an hour and

a half with an account of oxygen reactions. At lunch I talked with Prof Noyes of the Slavic Language Dep't. He told a story about Prof. Rising and football player who just had to pass his chemistry. His examination (+ answers) was:
1. What color is blue vitriol? Ans. Pink.
2. " " " red oxide of lead? And. I don't know.
The second answer was right, so he got 50 on the exam. + passed.
I've just seen Leonard Loeb, who told me all about the books he's writing, etc.
This afternoon I'm taking the Stuarts to the Partheneia.
Love to you and Linus + Jeff.
Your own
Paddy.
