    17 April 1961

    Dear Carleton,

Thanks very much for your last three reprints.

I had a nice surprise six weeks ago - all four of our children appeared, to help celebrate my sixtieth birthday.

In a couple of months my paper on a molecular theory of general anesthesia should appear in Science, I am sure that you will be interested in it.

Please come around to see us if you pass through Pasadena in the near future.

    Cordially yours,

    [Linus Pauling]
