    8 August 1958

    Dr. Evan O. Kane

FAS Committee for a United Nations University

    18 Sherwood Lace

    Burnt Hills, New York

    Dear Dr. Kane:

I am very much in favor of founding another United Nations University, and I think that it would be very worth while to undertake this study.

I myself feel that the most important need along this direction that we could take would be to set up a World Peace Research Organization, under the United Nations, as described in Chapter 10 of my book, No More War! In one sense this might encompass the United Nations University within itself - I have in mind that the senior members of the staff would be essentially professors in the university, but with only post-doctoral people working with them, no students.

    Sincerely yours,

    Linus Pauling: rh
