  • Letter from Andrew H. Neilly, Jr., Manager, College Sales, John Wiley and Sons, Inc., to LP RE: Wiley and Sons has just published the new Resonance in Organic Chemistry by George Willard Wheland. Since the book is dedicated to LP by Wheland, a copy is being sent to LP. [Letter from LP to Neilly February 3, 1956] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (W: Individual Correspondence. (Weichsel - White)), #434.7]
  • Letter from Dr. Robert E. Williams, Phi Lambda Upsilon, Chemistry Dept., Oklahoma A and M College, to LP RE: The Alpha Delta chapter of Phi Lambda Upsilon invites LP to deliver the annual O.M. Smith Lecture this year. Lists previous years' speakers. A date can be arranged for LP's greatest convenience. The Chemical Society will cover all of LP's expenses. [Letter from LP to Williams December 20, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (W: Correspondence, 1953-1959), #444.3]
  • Letter from Esther Everett Lape to LP, RE: Encloses short review printed in The New Yorker on Medical Research: A Midcentury Survey. Updates LP on the report's reception by the scientific community and by the general public. [Letters from Lape to LP December 7, 1955, January 13, 1956] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (A: Organizational Correspondence. (Am - Am)), #10.1]
  • Letter from LP to Felix Wunsch RE: Interested to see Wunsch's table, which showed the electronic configurations of the elements. Likely that Wunsch's table, as well as LP's chart, which served as a basis for the table, is not completely correct in representing the configuration of the atoms of the elements in their most stable states. Does not feel that a table showing these configurations is of enough importance to chemistry to justify its publication. Only a small difference in energy exists between the state corresponding to the configuration indicated in LP's chart and the most stable state; thus, does not think that the complication of the correct table is justified. [Letter from Wunsch to LP December 8, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (W: Correspondence, 1953-1959), #444.3]
