    Dear Bob:

    I was terribly sorry to learn on my return to Pasadena yesterday that your father had suffered a stroke and was not expected to live.

    I have written a letter to Miss Hamburger, a copy of which is enclosed. If there is anything more that you would like me to do, please let me know.
