  • Letter from LP to AL Strand, President, Oregon State College RE: Since his first letter, LP has received a copy of the Oregon State Daily Barometer for February 24, 1949 and states that from the statement Strand made in the article LP judges he considers Spitzer to be a follower of the Communist Party line. LP does not view this as a satisfactory reason for dismissal. Talks about the editorial in Chemical and Engineering News to which Spitzer responded which is the reason Strand associates him with the Communist party. LP writes that from the evidence it seems some violation of academic freedom has occurred.
