I thank you very much for your letter of October 19. I deeply appreciate the honor done to me by the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the Fuculdade de Farmacia da Universidade do Recife, in naming the Centro de Estudos de Quimica Analitica the Centro de Estudos Linus Pauling. May I ask you to express to Dr. Ernesto Silva and to his colleagues my sincere appreciation.
I am also happy to learn of my election as an Honorary Member of the Centro de Estudos Emil Fischer of the Cadeira de Quimica Fisiologica da Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas de Pernambuco, and I thank you and the members of your group for having conferred this honor on me.
I enclose an autographed photograph of myself, made last year. I also am sending you some biographical material. A reprint of the papers on the structure of proteins that Professor Corey and I have published recently is being sent to you under separate cover.
