Dearest Mom
Finally out of basic radar and into a very pleasing advanced course. I was given Night
Fighter very interesting and the best thing is that it's six weeks long and, with perhaps some
weeks of KP thrown in, I go to Southern California March Field in Fresno for further training.
Home every weekend sounds good! Almost too good. So I'll be home probably in early
February. There's always the chance that the army will interfere so keep some doubts in your
mind.
I received your package in good shape. I'll render effusive thanks after Christmas when
I'm supposed to open it. I'm counting on a substantial pecuniary allowance large party
planned. I'm got to enjoy this Christmas as much as possible makes the circumstances.
Ask Dad if he remembers Stanley Juleen freshman in '43-44. Juleen has been
wandering around the section praising Dad to the stars my reputation has increased
tremendously. "Gee I didn't know your dad was a genius" etc. I feel a particular combination
of embarrassment and pride.
Best of good wished to the whole family I know you'll have a very merry Christmas.
You always also. My love to Crelly, Lindy, Pete, and to you and Dad. Say hello to your
Christmas guests for me.
And mom I wish you the happiest birthday possible. My especial love goes to you I
wish I might give it in person. This is a poor substitute but I'll be thinking of you on the 24th.
Tomorrow I move to section N, some B.M.C. Early Shift, 6AM to noon. Tomorrow
afternoon and night the Messiah. Some day.
Happy Birthday, Mom!
