Dear Mr. Plano:
I thank you for your letter and the twenty-page statement, which I am returning to you herewith.
I agree with you about the need for morality in the exercise of religion, and especially with respect to the war in Vietnam.
I think that it is fortunate that the principles of morality are not confined to Christianity, but are common to all of the great religions and are accepted also by the great majority of non-religious people. I have been striving to get the governments of world to become moral: this is a great problem.
