  • Handwritten note from Aneesur Rahman, Physical Laboratory, Osmenia University, to LP RE: Tells LP that he is interested in the negative molecular ion H2- and has studied LP's book, "Pauling and Wilson." Shows LP how he tried to write the wave functions of He2+ in terms of the molecular orbitals. Asks LP if he will be wrong in saying that the wave function ΨS=ΨI + ΨII is attractive and ΨA=ΨI - ΨII is repulsive. Requests for LP to send him the relevant compiled constants for H2- which have been quoted in his book. Tells LP that he is interested in the continuous absorption coefficient of H2- in its ground state and show the calculations he has done on those wave functions.
