Dearest Mamma,
Thank you for all your wonderful letters. I like them very much.
My curtains are up, and soon my piece of cloth and a pen nude by Odile. My
phonograph works and the speaker is a lovely piece of birch I had made here. My room really
looks rather nice. And the lampshade is asymmetric, just in front of the curtains.
Bragg was worried I could not take care of Daddy and got him a room in Trinity.
I wrote Linda but must do so again.
I still don't know how I stand. I am working reasonably hard. No sleep. I was elected to
the Perne Club, a highbrow philosophical and a glass of wine organization in Peterhouse. At my
first meeting I argued fast and furiously. Have received several compliments on my handling of
the problems mentioned by the speaker.
