The five research notebooks that comprise Series 9 detail Harris's laboratory work on a number of scientific topics, including the properties of silk and paraffins, and the nature of chemical equilibrium in various systems. One notebook is likewise devoted entirely to recording Harris's impressions of a March 1978 trip to China.
