Dear Mrs. Debye
I continue to remember with gratitude and pleasure the wonderfully clear and inspiring lectures by Professor Debye that I heard forty years ago, and I shall never forget his kindness to me when I was just beginning my scientific career.
I have been asked by the Royal Society of London to write his biographical memoir. It will be an honor for me to do this. I have asked Frank Long to help, and I hope that you will talk with him about those personal aspects of his life that might be included in the memoir.
