- Itinerary: Prather Lecture, 5 PM Burr Hall B [Filed under LP Travel: Box #1.002, Folder 2.1]
- Letter from Dr. Bernard Pullman, Faculty of Sciences, Institut du Radium, France, to LP RE: Thanks LP for his invitation to lecture at Caltech. As soon as the details of their journey are settled, Pullman will write to Dr. E.W. Hughes regarding the titles of the projected lectures and the date at which they plan to arrive in Pasadena. [Letter from LP to Pullman April 7, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (P: Correspondence, 1953-1959), #313.3]
- Letter from Dr. Charles L. Beckel, Physics Dept., Georgetown University, to LP RE: Thanks LP for his advice concerning Beckel's research on the vibrational analyses of potential curves for the ground state of the hydrogen molecule. Curious about Bruchner's work on the nitrogen molecule. Explains that he had chosen hydrogen because the existing information on the vibrational energy levels and potential curves is more complete for the hydrogen molecule than any other molecule. [Filed under LP Correspondence: (B: Correspondence, 1955-1957), #38.1]
- Letter from Dr. Ralph Connor, Rohm and Haas Company, to LP RE: Sorry that he will be unable to attend LP's lecture on April 28 at Bryn Mawr. If LP is interested in visiting the Rohm and Haas Company on April 28, he can call John Kincaid. If he would like to visit on April 29, Connor would be able to host him. [Letter from LP to Connor June 24, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (C: Correspondence, 1921-1957), #74.23]
- Letter from Professor A.N.J. Heyn, Natural and Synthetic Fibers, School of Textiles, Clemson Agricultural College, to LP RE: At the American Crystallographic Association's meeting, during the discussion of Professor Schmitt's paper, Heyn referred to the theories by Crick and Wilkins regarding the lateral arrangement and pairing of two helical DNA chains of opposite direction. He did so in connection with the evidence for the helical structure of the collagen molecule. Requests reprints of LP's latest papers on the structure of protein fibers, including silk. Requests to be put on the mailing list. Note in the margin says that the reprints were sent. [Filed under LP Correspondence: (H: Correspondence, 1950-1955), #166.6]
- Letter from Professor H. Schwiegk, Klinische Wochensschrift, Germany, to LP RE: The Klinische Wochensschrift, a medical journal widely read by European doctors interested in clinical research, plans to arrange a regular section of summaries by international authorities on the leading problems of modern medical science. Has read LP's papers and requests that LP write a summary on the mechanism of antibody formation. Schwiegk will take care of translating the article into German. [Letter from LP to Schwiegk July 26, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (S: Correspondence, 1953-1956), #379.3]
- Letter from Professor Hermann O. L. Fischer, Virus Laboratory, University of California at Berkeley, to LP RE: Has located all of the peptides which LP requested. Some of these peptides are available only in quantities below LP's suggested 50 mg; wonders if LP is still interested in the smaller quantities. Wonders if prolonged x-ray radiation will destroy the material. [Letter from LP to Fischer April 7, 1955, Letter from Fischer to Corey May 31, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (F: Correspondence, 1935-1956), #128.20]
- Letter from Professor Hugo Theorell, Medicinska Nobelinstitutet, Biokemiska Avdelningen, to LP RE: Attaches paper sent to Nature, which used the peptide model that LP gave them. Finds it interesting that for a peptide chain which is restricted by not less than three covalent bonds to a rigid structure like the hemin, certain rather definite conclusions concerning the hydrogen bond structure can be made without the aid of x-ray crystallography. Wonders if and where LP has published his new peptide model. Would like to make a quotation in the paper for Acta Chemica Scandinavica. Wonders if LP intends to travel to Europe this summer so that Theorell can see him. [Letter from LP to Theorell July 25, 1955] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (T: Individual Correspondence. (Thant - Toole)), #407.2]
