Dear Dr. Roughton:
I have known that you were staying in this country during the last few years, and I have been looking forward to seeing you at some time again. We shall be pleased to have you visit our Laboratories when you come West at the end of this month. We have no new experimental results on hemoglobin, but you may be interested in the work which has been going on here in the field of immunochemistry, and also in our work on the development of a plasma substitute.
It is sometimes possible for a visitor to get a room in the Athenaeum, which is on the campus of the California Institute; if no room is available there, a room can be reserved at the Hotel Constance, only a short distance away. I suggest that you let me know the time of your arrival in Pasadena and the number of days that you plan to stay, in order that we may make a reservation for you. Also please tell me the time of your arrival at Berkeley, so that I may write to you there, telling you about the arrangements that have been made.
Cordially yours,
Linus Pauling
