Born and raised in Salem, Oregon, Brandon Trelstad came to Oregon State University as an undergraduate student and remains here today as the university’s Sustainability Officer. His background in environmental science and policy provided the foundation for his role in improving the institution’s environmental impact. He works with a variety of organizations, individuals, and students to reduce the community’s carbon emissions and educate people on sustainable practices.
Trelstad recounts his path from uncertain student to active community member. He describes spending time exploring neighboring farmland as a child, and how his interests in natural resources led to his studies in environmental science.
