The Admiral Loses More Than a Few Good Men
*****
-- The Admiral let it pass, unlocked the drawer. Sipping the drink, he thought he really ought to reestablish what he remembered as a good relationship with Lucy. That momentarily excited him, but he did remember to stow the bottle and lock the drawer.
Lucy welcomed him. Like Susan and Caroline, she had known her man a long time. And, for all her tricks to stay sane, she still loved him.
"Breck, let's go to bed."
He was startled. Before he realized it, he said the words.
"I need you."
"I've waited a long time, a very long time, to hear you say that, Breck. Let's get the hell out of the Navy and enjoy what we've earned."
The mood was catching. Or maybe Breck's defenses were simply gone.
"I've made some mistakes. Lucy. Probably one or two bad ones. Maybe I've lost it."
She had been unbuttoning her blouse from the bottom up toward the high ruffled neck. Now she undid the pin-hinge fastener at the bottom of her cleavage and stood, letting her breasts push the cloth away.
"We'll just have to see, won't we, Breck? Come along."
