Dear Pete
Plans are firming up and I think we will be arriving in London on about the 5th of November, planning to stay until the end of January or so. Unless you have a better idea, I will make a reservation to stay at a hotel for a week or so until we can find a flat. Do you have any ideas which one we should choose?
Is there anything else I can do from here? I expect it is as hard to get tickets to things in London as in New York, but I don't know what I can do about it.
Also, what is your exact address? If you don't mind, I would like to have letters sent to me c/o you, so as to avoid complicating life at home more than it is already.
I'm really looking forward to the trip, and everything here seems to be working out satisfactorily so I can get away. Dogs, house, practice, job are taken care of pretty much.
It will be interesting to live in cold weather again. I'm dragging out my old clothes from Boston days, now pretty much out of style of course, and the long underwear I bought in Oslo [...]
I've been continuing the model-making activity, now involved with soldering brass bits together. Sort of fun to learn all these processes, and it is different from the silver work I've done. I may continue some of this in London, as I gather the English are hot for scratch-building. Unfortunately the English favorite scale uses US HO gage track but not US HO scale, which is 3.5mm/ft or 1:87 proportion.
I haven't sent that book on to Orel yet, but I will.
All best wishes. Did you get through the California stay ok?
Much love,
Linus
