Dear Mrs. Heath:
I have read with interest your letter of 17 October, in which you discuss a number of factors that seem to bear on mental disease as well as cancer, and ask about the possibility of our carrying on research along some of these lines.
Our situation is that we are not able to expand our research activities, and accordingly cannot carry on work of the sort suggested. We have some studies under way of metabolism of vitamins, not, however, including vitamin D. I think that our work is progressing well, but it requires all of our energy and facilities.
Sincerely,
Linus Pauling
