    10 September 1963

    Dr. Robert M. Hutchins

Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions

    Santa Barbara, California

    Dear Bob:

After reading your article Addlepates and Addlescents I have decided to send you a copy of the article Molecular Disease, Evolution, and Genic Heterogeneity, written by Dr. Zuckerkandl and me. It may be that my colleague is the grandson of the famous Austrian savant, Professor Zuckerkandl. I shall try to restrain Dr. Zuckerkandl from taking any serious action about this matter.

Ava Helen and I are still hoping to stop off to see you some day, as we drive through Santa Barbara on the way to our ranch, which is about 150 miles farther north. We do this once or twice a month.

    Sincerely yours,

    Linus Pauling:hpg
