  • Letter from Alexander Forbes to LP, RE: Forbes agrees with the sentiments expressed in LP’s appeal.  However, he does not believe that complete disarmament is possible given Russian’s clear determination to dominate the world.  Forbes feels that at this time it is better that the government be focused on protecting people from the Communists’ threat of force.  For this reason, Forbes declines to sign the appeal.   • Letter from Dr. George Tarjan, Superintendent and Medical Director, Pacific State Hospital, to Dr. Thomas Perry, Medical Research Consultant, California Institute of Technology, cc LP, RE: Perry has been appointed to the voluntary consulting staff as part of the affiliate research program.  Although there will be no financial compensation, Tarjan thinks that the appointment will be beneficial in other ways.  Since the appointments are made on a fiscal year basis, it will terminate June 30, 1961.  P.S.  To LP: Catchpool has already been reappointed, and does not need to write again.
