- Letter from Dr. E.B. Chain, F.R.S., Istituto Superiore di Sanita, Italy, to LP RE: The Avogadro Commemoration Ceremony will be held in Rome during the first week in June. If LP could leave the U.S. at the beginning of June, that would be just right with regard to the timing. Should LP accept the invitation, the Italian Chemical Society will arrange LP's lecture tour through Italy, which would include Naples, Bologna, Milan, and Turin. Besides LP's Avogadro speech, the Italian Chemical Society would also like LP to deliver a lecture on a specific topic from his field in Rome. This would make 6 lectures in all. LP and AHP's journey through Italy will be arranged so that they can also see the art treasures and historic sites of the country.
