Letter from Linus Pauling to John Edsall. May 11, 1955Pauling expresses his appreciation for Edsall’s article on Government and the Freedom of Science. He believes that it will contribute significantly to future policy development on the subject, mentioning the personal frustrations that have arisen as a result of his own experiences related to the issue. Pauling adds that, for instance, his Public Health Service grants were suddenly cancelled and his subsequent grant applications were postponed as well. Pauling believes that this was due to political reasons as applications submitted by his colleagues have been acted upon immediately. View Transcript
