Dear Parents,
Willie Crellin and I are on our way home after a wonderful visit in Hawaii. We are very
sorry to leave, but I am supposed to get some work done this summer. No ink on this tub.
I presume you told Kendrew I had decided not to get married. I had neglected to inform
him. Fine, I expect to have a grand time. I guess I have to work too.
I shall give a short list of my financial obligations:
Due Aug 17 to Cunard White Star $110
Estimate of train and baggage fair 150
Owed Alex Rich for eastern trip 12
" H.P. Robertson " " " 20
Stock of colour film for Europe ~36
I would like to spend for records $100
GE pickup, diamond needle and tone arm $46
Food for 30 days (Aug 16→ Sept 16)
for Crellin and me._________________________45
I shan't total it. Scared.
Linda knows where the $62 dollars went. I paid $13.25 for my watch, $5.00 for some
photographs, $1.20 for color film and a little more.
Additional: owed to Linus and Anita $12 I am sorry, but I and Crellin only have $6.32
and I owe money. Maybe Cunard will cancel my reservation when I don't pay. You must come
to Hawii sometime again in the next two years. It is grand.
[Crellin begins writing here]
It is a shame to leave Oahu. We brought pineapple, etc, but they wouldn't let us bring
them home, We had a wonderful time. You would love the place. Thousands of Hibiscus, etc.
Pete and I drove around the Island yesterday. Picked pineapple sugar. Saw sugar being
harvested.
Love,
Crellin
I hope I see you before I go.
Much love,
Peter
