Dear Mom,
Linie is delighted at the prospect of his trip. We think it will be very good for him to get on his own.
At present he is reserved on PAA's day flight on Friday, but waitlisted on their Thursday night flight (which he prefers). He is reserved back on PAA's Saturday midnight flight. However, you can send him back any time that is convenient for you. He is excited over the plan for going to the ranch and San Francisco, and we don't think it will be too much for him. He won't have any trouble staying with strangers while you're busy. I'll send along some drugs for him in case of trouble, such as carsickness.
We'll send a cable when we know his definite arrival time.
Anita wasn't so busy over the Christmas holidays that she couldn't get pregnant! We've been planning on a fifth child for some time (the corner bedroom that you were in was designed as a nursery) and the time finally seemed ripe, so here it is! It (for lack of a better term) is due probably in October, like Ramona. Hopefully there will be other similarities to Ramona.
When and where are you going to be in June? We are planning on moving en masse to Geneva in the middle of June and staying as long as possible—the first? week in September, probably. Maybe you could visit us in Geneva if you are somewhere nearby. We are expecting visits from Pete and family and Linda and family as it is, and it ought to be a lot of fun.
Anita will be taking a very quick trip over there in April to make final arrangements for equipment, etc., for the house. We don't know yet whether she will be able to lay over in Los Angeles long enough to visit.
Many thanks for giving Linie this opportunity.
Much love,
[Linus]
