Abbreviations used in the Structure Reports are taken from the World List of Scientific Periodicals, which is also the basis for those used in Acta Crystallographica. Agrees that the abbreviation used in Chemical Abstracts is shorter and less likely to be misleading than the abbreviation in the World List. Thinks it would be possible to adopt it for Structure Reports from volume 14 onward, but Wilson will consult the Editor of the World List before making any change.
