Dear Mom and Dad,
I hope you are getting along well and that the trip isn't too hard on Daddy. Linda very
suddenly came down with chicken-pox, but it is a very light touch and you needn't be worried
about it or come rushing home. Crellie felt very badly the day after you left, crying all
afternoon. He slept thirteen or fourteen hours that night, however, and has felt pretty chipper
ever since, except for his everlasting cold.
Alpha and Dr. Jones are very good and we have a lot of fun with them. Alpha and I have
just gotten through with a terrific struggle with the electric heater, which, you remember, was out
of commission. It is made of pieces of sheet-metal which have to be made to fit in little grooves.
We struggled for about forty-five minutes just putting all of this back together.
I got stopped by police for the first time yesterday. He was just checking up on these
kids without driver's license, however, so he didn't have much to say.
I hope you enjoyed yourselves in all the cities you stay in and keep out of mischief. It's
pretty hard to do one without the other, isn't it?
Much love,
Linus
