Letter from Linus Pauling to J.E. Mills. January 31, 1930Pauling writes to inform Mills that the grant-in-aid application is to be used to pay half the salary of J.H. Sturdivant to assist his work in the experimental determination of the electron distribution in crystals. Pauling states that Sturdivant would have to remain at Caltech throughout the duration of the experiments. He notes that this is not the standard policy for the Research Board of the National Research Council, but explains that it would be the most sensible method of completing the work.
