The administrative records from the Horner Museum include inventory, accessioning, cataloging, exhibits, IMS grants, collection and facility security and maintenance, policies and procedures, visitors, research requests, and the complete catalog of donors to the museum. There are also records of exhibits loaned or de-accessioned, the museum store, floor plans, and publicity materials.
The collection also includes records, receipts, and bills from the OSU Foundation Fund and Friends of the Horner Museum. An auction catalog, publicity materials, and related documentation and correspondence relating to the October 1990 auction for the Friends of the Horner Museum are also in the collection.
In addition, correspondence records between the Museum Director, J. Leo Fairbanks, and potential donors, suppliers, and the public are in the collection. Materials relating to the closing of the Horner Museum in 1995 include correspondence, brochures, newspaper clippings, and reports.
Accession 2002:105 consists of the report "Future Directions for the Horner Museum of OSU." The report was prepared by Museum Management Consultants, Inc.
Accession 2003:053 includes records concerning a proposal written by University Archivist Michael Holland for the transfer and disposition of Horner Museum collections. In addition to several draft versions of the proposal, there are also brochures, correspondence, memoranda, notes, and a list of records and photograph collections in the Horner Museum deemed appropriate for transfer directly into the holdings of the Archives. Following the approval of Holland's disposition proposal in 1996, a number of records and photograph collections were subsequently transferred to the Archives.
