Dr. L. Cozen
1133 South Alfred Street
Los Angeles, California
Dear Dr. Cozen:
In answer to your question I may say that so far as I am aware, large doses of ascorbic acid do not harm the stomach or mouth mucosa.
Doses of several grams do have a laxative action in some people. It might be wise to take larger doses with meals.
I think that it is worth while for nearly every-one to ingest a rather large amount of ascorbic acid. I have been taking about three grams a day for four years. It seems to me to improve the general health.
Sincerely yours,
Linus Pauling
