Dear Irv:

I have congratulated you before on the high quality of your science articles in the Los Angeles Times, and I am writing again largely to repeat these congratulations.

Also, however, I am sending you two pages from a newspaper, containing a comic strip, Frontiers of Science, copyrighted by the Los Angeles Times. I tore out these pages because I had planned to mail them to my friend Hermann Muller. I delayed mailing them, however, and, as you no doubt know, he died a few months ago.

I think that it is likely that you didn't have anything to do /ith this strip, but anything in the field of science that is copyrighted by the Los Angeles Times is apt to reflect on your reputation.

In the first strip that I am sending you (Part 2 of the Atomic Garden) there are the following mistakes: Muller's name is spelled Mueller, when it should be Muller; his first name is spelled Herman, when it should be Hermann. It is said that he carried out his research in Germany, when in fact he carried it out in Texas, where he was Associate Professor and Professor from 1920 to 1936.

In the other strip, Part 4 of the Atomic Garden, he is described as the German scientist Mueller, v/hen it should be the American scientist Muller. Muller was, by the way, born in New York in 1890.

There is little doubt that this matter has been brought to the attention of the Los Angeles Times before, but, just to be sure, I thought that I should write to you. The errors are especially flagrant, in that information could be got from ordinary reference books, such as Who's Who in America, or the Random House dictionary.

Dear Peter:

I have not yet found my copy of the first edition of Wyckoff, but I shall continue to look for it, and if I find it I shall send it to you.

Also, I have not been able to track down my review of the second edition of Wyckoff. I shall ask Dr. Albrecht to go through the literature, and to get a copy of it.

I am sending you reprints of my recent papers under separate cover. I made a note about sending you reprints, but I do not remember what reprints you wanted.

Mamma and I have been at the ranch for three weeks now and we are going to stay most of the summer. We shall have to spend an occasional week in either Santa Barbara or La Jolla. We shall probably move to La Jolla during September. Our trip to Europe will be during the second part of October and the first part of November.

I have not yet received the Oxford English Dictionary. I believe that I sent you the money (about $100) for it. You might want to send me a statement of what is due on the Penguins.

P.S. I have found that my review of the Supplement to Wyckoff's second edition appeared in Science, Vol. 82, page 372 (1935). I am still checking to see if I wrote a review of the second edition itself. If I did, it would probably be in Science for 1931 or 1932.
