    Mr. Walt A. Hubbard

    Jicarilla, New Mexico

    Dear Hubbard:

I was glad to receive your letter and learn about your present activities. We are all busy here, not only with our regular work, but also with some national defense work, including a special course in explosives. You know that the Institute has grown a great deal since you were here and is now a rather large and busy place.

I enjoyed my trip to New York to get the Medal and do other things. Perhaps I tried to get too much done, since I have returned in somewhat poorer health than usual.

    With best regards, I am

    Sincerely yours,
    Linus Pauling
