Rectangular, marble plaque with metal plate with inscription: "The Linus Pauling Lecture Hall. For many years Professor Linus Pauling offered Caltech freshmen their first exposure to modern chemistry in this lecture room, 22 Gates. Professor Pauling's lectures were renowned throughout the Institute. They were at once challenging, inspiring, and entertaining. On his 85th birthday, February 28, 1986, the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, in Professor Pauling's honor, dedicated this room as the Linus Pauling Lecture Hall."
