He has an idea he wants to discuss with Peter- he suggests they collaborate on a high school chemistry text. It would provide a source of income for some time, and LP offers to pay Peter's wage for the next year if Peter will take a leave of absence and join LP in Pasadena. He would ike Peter to decide immediately, in case his answer is negative, so that LP can get on with hiring another helper for his project if Peter declines.
