    20 January, 1960

    Dear Parents,

Thank you very much for your letter and the money which I herewith return since the place was sold to someone else.

I think I shall stay here long enough to make it worth while to have someplace and even though prices are much above what they were a couple of years ago I cannot see how they will ever go down. I shall look around for places to satisfy some of my various requirements. I must have more room. Please do not worry about me. I am feeling close to you. I shall solve my various problems. I do wish I could start with this psychologist though.

Mamma, would you please send $12 to Consumers Union for three years in the enclosed envelope with the enclosed card? And please send $8 to the American Crystallographic Association with the enclosed form in the enclosed envelope which needs a stamp?

Do you know roughly what you will be doing next summer? When you will be away and when here?

    Thank you.

    Love from

    [Peter Pauling]
