Dear Parents:
The enclosed arrived yesterday, and I decided to send it on, but keep the envelope, with stamps. Congratulations! We think you should delay your return a day and go to München and receive it.
I took that book back, and ordered the one that I wanted. I have heard very good reports about it at C.I.T. Work is going very well. I enjoy it, and judging from my data, I am not doing too badly. Dan Campbell had gone to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for a meeting (with some fish). Needless to say he is teased about this - a American Cancer Society meeting at Jackson Hole!
Everything is going well - it is hot!
Love, Crell
PS - The letter from S. Goudsmit was marked "please forward".

Dear Pop:
Dr. Robert G. Hunter of The Medical Group here has again approached me to ask you more about the problem of sterilization that I discussed with you at Christmas time. The material he wishes to use in his research is the transparent cellophane-like rice paper such as is found wrapped around certain types of Japanese candy. It is very thin, and also is edible. According to Dr. Hunter, no method available here will sterilize this paper without destroying it. I told him that you had suggested to me that Caltech's high voltage emitter would be too powerful, and perhaps some commercial organization would have what he wants. Dr. Hunter now wants to know more about this. Apparently there are some funds available for the purpose.
I returned the stop-H-bomb petition with two signatures. I could have gathered a number more with a couple more days to work in, but it felt more important to get the paper back to you in time. I hope it does some good. I notice, in great part thanks to your efforts, a rapidly increasing movement in the press expressing dismay over the increasing radioactivity of the environment.
I enclose, for your collection, some local news stories.
Much love,
Linus

- Letter from William and Ada Wardlaw to LP, RE: The Wardlawsthanks LP for his appeal to scientists, as individual citizens the Wardlaws do not think that they have much of a voice.
