Memorandum from Linus Pauling to Verner Schomaker. December 18, 1951Pauling requests that Schomaker write about electron diffraction and the nature of the silicon-oxygen bond, recent Caltech research on silicon compounds that have used the electron diffraction method, and any research that Schomaker would like to do. Pauling will then pass this information on to Belknap. Pauling would also like a post-doctorate man to be hired to work on silicon-oxygen compounds and similar compounds, and for a grant to be obtained in order for the research to occur.
