Letter from Linus Pauling to Paul J. Kern. July 18, 1949Pauling writes that he has seen an advertisement in the July 15 New York Times that noted his connection with the American Chemical Society and with Caltech. Pauling reacted by sending Kern a telegram protesting this unauthorized mention of his association with those groups. Pauling writes that he also found the same two references on the Bill of Rights Conference literature. He stresses that he does not like these connections to be associated with his political activity.
