In the interview, Valenti discusses his upbringing in the San Francisco Bay Area, his family background and his experiences at Tamalpais High School. From there he shares his memories of his arrival at Oregon State College in 1938, his life as a member of Slats Gill's basketball teams, and his recollection of campus culture in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

Valenti then notes his military service during World War II before detailing his return to Corvallis, his career coaching baseball, basketball and tennis, and his memories of several individuals important to the history of OSU athletics, including Ralph Coleman and Ralph Miller.
