Warner Strausbaugh was born in Bradenton, Florida and raised first in Pleasanton, California and later in Eugene, Oregon. After attending the University of Oregon for one year, Strausbaugh transferred to Oregon State University, where he majored in Political Science and became heavily involved with the OSU student newspaper, The Daily Barometer. For much of his time at the newspaper, Strausbaugh served as a reporter covering numerous sports beats while simultaneously moving up the ranks of the publication's editorial staff. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper for the 2013-2014 academic year.

In addition to his work in the print media, Strausbaugh co-hosted both a sports radio talk show on campus station KBVR-FM and as well as a podcast series featuring in-depth discussion of Beaver sports and other issues relevant to life at OSU.
