An addition to the Jean Mater Papers (Accession 2012:075) consists of materials documenting projects undertaken by the Mater Machine Works/Mater Engineering firm and Jean Mater's participation in various organizations. In addition to mechanical drawings that comprise the bulk of this addition, this accession also includes certificates, correspondence, a diploma, flyers, mechanical drawings, photographs, and plaques. The mechanical drawings depict machine parts, equipment, buildings, and mill site layouts developed for private timber company and Native American tribal sawmill operations. Examples of equipment featured in these drawings include: tong dogs, turners, edger feed rolls, stub shafts, offbear rolls, and carriages. Information about seed separation equipment developed by Mater Machine Works in conjunction with the USDA Small Seed Laboratory was also found in this transfer. The plaques and certificates reflect Mater's involvement in the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce, the Altrusa Club, the OSU Austin Family Business Program, the Forestry Research Advisory Council, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the Oregon Private Industry Council. Comprised of 3 prints, the photographs are all portrait shots of Jean Mater, one with her husband Milton. The diploma is Jean's doctorate from Oregon State College.
