This collection consists of photographs generated and collected by the Entomology Department. The materials document the activities of department faculty, staff, and students as well as classes, entomology research and fieldwork, and various insects.
An addition to the collection, Accession 2001:070, is comprised about 800 photographs, comprised of B&W prints and negatives, color prints, and 35mm color glass slides. Depicted in these photographs are various insects such as symphylids, millipedes, and potato flea beetles and their damage to fields and crops, Entomology Dept. staff, equipment used in fumigation and research, the OSU Field Insectory, and hop field day.
An addition to the collection, Accession 2002:075, consists of about 950 photographic images taken and collected by Entomology Professor H. H. Crowell. Consisting of black and white prints and negatives, color prints, 35mm black and white negatives, and glass plate negatives, these photographs depict insect impact upon crops and pesticide research at farm plots managed both by the university and privately. Among the insects featured in these images are: cutworms, aphids, squash bugs, cabbage maggots, onion maggots, symphylids, slugs and ants. There are also images of Entomology Department staff engaged in research and special events such as a summer picnic. In addition to the photographs, there are seven Super-8 films of rain beetles, termites, scarabaeidae larva, and harvestor ants filmed in the McDonald Research Forest and in a lab. This accession also contains about 800 photographs given to Ralph Berry by fellow Entomology Department Professors Hugh Morrison and H. H. Crowell. The photos comprise of black and white prints and negatives, color prints, and 35mm color glass slides. Depicted in the photos are various insects such as symphylids, millipedes, and potato flea beetles and evidence of their damage to fields and crops. Also included are images of Entomology Department staff, equipment used in fumigation and research, the OSU Field Insectory, and Hop Field Day.
An addition to the collection, Accession 2003:067, contains 815 photographic images (556 prints; 176 slides; 83 negatives) generated and collected by the Entomology Department. In addition to images of various department faculty, staff, and students, these photos also document entomology research and fieldwork, various insects, faculty retirement parties, department dinners, and exhibits at OSU and elsewhere organized by the department.
